Hello,
I'd like to pitch a feature on Joey Vasquez.
The story: a founding figure of UK rave — co-founder of Kool FM 94.5, drive-time host on Sunrise 88.75FM, resident at Raindance and Biology — who moved to Berlin in 1992 and held residencies at Tresor and E-Werk. He ran the first weekly UK rave nights at The Bunker, the venue that became Berghain.
The angle: a stage accident left him in a coma and brought epilepsy that ended his live career. Surgery, then cancer. He is now back, releasing again — the RED SHIFT album landed August 2025.
It's a first-generation account of a scene that is now being written about second-hand.
